About Me

Lawrence Grotts grew up in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Macomb Community College's Center for the Performing Arts for theater, music and cinematic arts studies. Along with his college theater appearances, Lawrence performed in several summer stock musicals and local theatrical productions. In addition to his acting, he was a featured dancer in the Detroit City Dance Company and the East and Company Dance Collective under the direction of Mr. Dennis East.

Now living in NYC, Lawrence has been fortunate enough to have been able to leave his career as a music industry executive and direct his focus back on his passion for acting working with coach, Mr. Peter Kelley. In less than a week of his decision to wholly dive into the acting profession, he hit the street running booking his very first audition and securing a principal role in a Jim Cramer's ‘Mad Money' CNBC/Universal commercial.

Lawrence worked along side with Michael Shannon as a Federal Agent in the smash HBO series Boardwalk Empire. He has also appeared in other TV productions including ABC's Life on Mars, NBC's Law & Order & Mercy, CBS's As The World Turns and Blue Bloods, FX Network's Rescue Me, and the Independent Film Chanel original series Z Rock.

On the silver screen, Lawrence appeared in the Columbia Pictures feature The Taking of Pelham 123 as a NYPD Hostage Negotiator; the Raymond De Felitta film City Island; and the Bette Gordon directed Handsome Harry. He has also appeared in the Columbia Pictures release Salt and the Jodie Foster directed film The Beaver with Mel Gibson. Lawrence has just wrapped Men In Black 3 and is currently working on the 2012 Sacha Baron Cohen film, The Dictator.

Finding his type as the protagonist, Lawrence stars in the independent short films; The Nothing Man (winner: Best Short Feature at the 2010 Alabama International Film Festival, winner: Silver Screen Award at the 2010 Nevada Film Festival, winner: Best Cinematography Award at the 2010 Daytona Beach Film Festival), The Other Side of Tomorrow, Recollection, Left In The Shadows, Cod Farthing, In The Mirror, Never Heard, Limbo and Heart & Soul.
