About Me

Alessio Cappelletti is an up and coming filmmaker originally from Rhode Island. He studied acting for a year at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, which has contributed tremendously to his skills as a director.  He studied film production and theater directing at Brooklyn College and was one of the resident directors for Mind the Art Entertainment's theater department, in Manhattan, for two years, then was promoted to head up their filmmaking department. He is currently a member of the board. Mind the Art Entertainment has had some very great successes: having multiple shows well received in the NYC Fringe Festival two years in a row and at the La Mama Theater, as well as having the honor to host the pre award reception for the 2010 Drama Desk Awards at Lincoln Center. There, Alessio was given the opportunity to have his own table to promote his upcoming feature length project "Dreams of the Youth", which attracted an astounding amount of attention. The president of MTAE, who also works with the UN, was a producer on Alessio's most recent short, "Broken Crayons" which received much praise from the president of Andrew Lauren Productions (The Squid and the Whale). Alessio has written and directed more than half a dozen short films; including Restitution which was chosen to be exhibited at the 2003 AS220 Providence Film Festival and The Glass Waltz which premiered on opening night at 2006’s New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. He is currently trying to secure financing for his recently completed feature length screenplay "Dreams of the Youth". He has also directed various pieces of theater, successfully coached actors, as well as worked as a director of photography, art director, assistant camera, camera operator, grip, etc. on various other films. Outside of film and theater, he is an accomplished fine art photographer and spoken word poet. He has won the statewide Gold Key Photography Portfolio Award for his work in B&W photography, as well as  LaSalle Academy’s Art Leadership Award. His work in photography has been exhibited at various venues and most recently in NYC, where he was also invited to be a member of the Dutch Kills Gallery, though had to turn it down. For poetry, he competed on the Providence Youth Poetry Slam Team in Los Angeles at the 2004 Annual Youth National Slam Competition and made it to the final stage with ten other teams. In 2004, he also managed and headlined a two month national poetry/hip-hop tour called “The Cabaret of Peace Poetry Tour” performing at major venues in such cities as Chicago, New Mexico, Seattle, San Francisco, Berkley, etc. He has been published in three different poetry anthologies and has a self-produced studio album out.  He presently splits his time between New York City and Rhode Island.

The Shows went GREAT! I had a ton of fun! Since they've ended I've been crazy busy still! I did a feature film called "Flowers". I played "Katie's Mother". Lots of crying in my scene! LOL Then I was background for "The Good Wife". Doing that reminded me why I wanted to join the union! Soooo I did! I am now an AFTRA member! I'm so excited to be part of the union. I know I can't do Non-union now... which cuts back on my opportunities, but I'm confident it will all work out for the best. :) Hope all is well with you! Blessings!

Hey Alessio sorry I couldn't make your shows. I have been very busy with rehearsals for mine and the time just got a way from me. :)
