So... we figured out where Mo would go for the Mo Goes! teaser reel. We needed a third segment but knew that something awesome would manifest itself.

Our first shoot was at The Slipper Room, a burlesque club on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Josh, Mo and I met at the club. I had my Canon mini-DV camera in hand and a mic.

We chose The Slipper Room for two reasons: I've always been a burlesque fan, we knew that a burlesque segment would be fun and, to top it all, Joan Rivers was performing at The Slipper Room earlier in the evening.

We were hoping to get a chance to interview Joan for the teaser. We reached out to her people but they didn't bite. We did see her and I even had a chance to talk to her. Joan (as always) was very nice.

Several weeks earlier I had snapped a photo of Joan with some fabulous females. At The Slipper Room, I cornered her when she was getting into her limo and told her that I was one of the photographers who captured the image. I gave her my card and she told her people to contact me to get a copy. They never did call but here's the image:

A week or so after a night at the bawdy burlesque club, Maureen and I headed to The Salty Paw for the doggy daycare segment (Josh had to work at his day job). Mission accomplished -- but we still need a third segment for the teaser.

Maureen and I toddled over to the South Street Seaport. An unattended information booth was at the end of one of the docks. Opportunity knocked. We answered.

I got home that night, anxious to watch so I started digitizing. The Salty Paw footage was fine but there was no sound during the info booth segment. Damn.

Long story short: we went back the next day to shoot more footage at the booth. The footage we got on day #2 at the info booth was so much better than day one. Yay!

After the editing (in iMovie HD), here's what we created for our 6-minute teaser reel (this is a low res version so it's a little pixelated):

The editing process was fun. I'd cobble together a rough edit and show it to Maureen then she'd give me some great constructive feedback, I'd make changes. Repeat. I think I still have the rough edits that we worked through to come to this edit. Let me know if you'd like to see them on ForTalent. If so, I'll post them when I have a moment to breathe.

I also would love to know what you think about MO GOES!. Please comment. I live for comments (even though I'm lame about responding to them). Would you watch this if it was a :30 minute t.v. show? For the actual show, Mo will travel all around the country and the world. It won't be only NYC stuff.

COMING SOON: Who wrote the book of Mo?

P.S. Thank you to Tina and Eugene for your comments from my last entry. They were very welcome! Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I've had a slam-ful week!
